What we think of as fall weather may come and go a few times in September and October, but events and activities are ramping up to make outdoor time fun. More events on the calendar means more FREE events, so it’s easy to go easy on your entertainment budget. Check out some of these fun, free events in Dallas and beyond.

Outdoor Movies

Movies on the Lawn at AT&T Discovery District, Downtown Dallas

At the AT&T Discovery District, movie nights are less of a series than scattered through the calendar of events. Movies are shown on the 104 by 84 (feet)  media wall, and are free to attend. Feel free to bring blankets and chairs for seating.

October Movie Series at Griggs Park, Dallas

On Tuesdays in October, Griggs Park hosts free movies in the park with free popcorn. Bring your blankets, lawn chairs, and picnics.

Movies start at 8 pm on Tuesday, Oct 1, 8, 15, and 22. No movie is scheduled for Oct 29. Movie titles have not yet been announced.


Discover Downtown Dallas October Movie Series at Main Street Garden Park, Dallas

Friday night is movie night at Main Street Garden Park in October. Movies start at 7:30 pm and are free to attend. These evening events will also feature live music and food trucks. It looks like they’re building up to Halloween with these themed movies.

Movies in the Park at Klyde Warren Park

Midnight Movie Night at Assembly Park, Plano

Assembly Park is new/refurbished mixed use concept built around a community park. As the retail, residential, and office spaces fill up, so does their events calendar. There’s one movie a month on the schedule so far. Movies are free, so bring a picnic blanket and get comfy.

The HUB, Allen

Free movie nights at The HUB often have two showtimes, making it convenient for families. Check the calendar on The HUB’s website for more details.

Concert Series

Central Market Stores

The Lovers Lane location has free concerts every Friday night in September. The Fort Worth store has free live music from 6-9 pm on Fridays and 5:30 to 9 pm on Saturdays through November 3.


PNC Patio Sessions  at Flora Cantina in the Dallas Arts District

This recurring series in the Dallas Arts District is a casual live music performance with other actitivies available in Klyde Warren Park. Upcoming performers include Covie the Band, Corina Grove, and The Special Edition Band. See the list with dates and times at the ATTPAC website link above.


Lakefront Live at Bath House Cultural Center

The Bath House Cultural Center will offer five free Lakefront Live concerts between September and November.

Wednesday Patio Sessions and Lakeside Live at The Sound at Cypress Waters

The Sound at Cypress Waters hosts two different free live music programs (and three shows) each week from September through November.

  • Wednesday Patio Sessions are on Wednesdays starting at 6 pm on the Landon Winery patio.
  • Lakeside Live concerts are scheduled on most Friday and Saturday nights at 8 pm in the Rogers-O’Brien Amphiteatre.

CityLine Live Fall Series at CityLine Plaza, Richardson

CityLine Plaza is the place for free live music every Friday and Saturday through Oct 26. The plaza is at a DART station and parking is free, so getting there isn’t too tough. Use the link above to visit the CityLine DFW website for the full lineup.

Music Made Here, Garland

This concert series in downtown Garland has been held the first Friday of the month, and has two events left. See Dev Wulf and The Midnight Howl at 7 pm Oct 4 and Mike Tuck at 7 pm Nov 1.


 

Lakeside Music Series at The Shops at Lakeside, Flower Mound

On Friday nights through Nov 15,  local musicians take the stage at this mixed use shopping center. Concerts are free, and so is parking (though it’s not particularly plentiful). Find food and drink at local restaurants, bring a lawn chair or blanket if you like, and be ready for the music to start around 7:30 pm.

Grapevine Main Live at Peace Plaza, Grapevine

There are six free concerts left in this music series in historic downtown Grapevine. The music starts at 7:30 pm on Friday nights in Peace Plaza, which is right outside Harvest Hall at the corner of Main Street and Dallas Road.
