Designed by Pritzker prize winner Renzo Piano, the Nasher Sculpture Center houses part of the prized sculpture collection of Raymond and Patsy Nasher. Piano’s use of natural light as an element in museum design is put to good use here. In addition to the Nashers’ large collection, the galleries also feature mini-retrospectives and other traveling exhibits. A month-long celebration every spring honors the winner of The Nasher Prize, given for excellence in contemporary sculpture.

The center’s sculpture garden, designed in collaboration with Peter Walker, is an oasis of green year-round. The center’s cafe overlooks the garden and provides a stunning view of art and nature. Large-scale works by Willem de Kooning, Henry Moore, and Pablo Picasso grace the grounds alongside fountains and jetted pools. Steel sculptures by Mark di Suvero and Eduardo Chillida may be recognizable since both sculptors have other significant public art in the Arts District. Dallas locals have also seen di Suvero’s epic art in NorthPark Center mall, also owned by the Nashers.

With free admission the first Saturday of every month and free ’til Midnight social events once a month, the museum brings internationally recognized artwork to anyone who wants to see it.

NorthPark Center

It’s not a museum, but it has an outstanding art collection. And just because it’s a mall doesn’t mean you have to go shopping.
